What’s in my Bag: Back to School Essentials

back to school essentials 2014-2015

Happy Monday and Happy Labor Day everyone! The end of summer is upon us and school starts back up tomorrow. I always feel a mix of excitement and sadness when it comes to starting the school year again. While I look forward to seeing my students and coworkers, I’ll certainly miss having days of being able to sleep in. Today I thought I’d share with you my back to school bag essentials. So here they are:

1. A small makeup case to carry all your essentials in. This one is from Forever 21. It helps keep everything in one place so that I’m not rummaging around my bag hunting for items.

2. Having Visine Drops for Contacts helps keep my eyes from getting dry.

3.  A fun lip color like Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie can help change a makeup look from day to night. It can also help liven up your face for days when you feel blah.

4. Hair ties. These are always a necessity and I like to keep a few on hand for instances when wearing my hair down gets bothersome.

5. A roll on fragrance like Fresh Sugar Lychee ensures I smell good throughout the day.

6. A go to lip balm such as the Christian Dior Addict Lip Glow Reviver Balm keeps chapped lips away. This one is great because the lip color adapts according to your body chemistry.

7. A translucent powder like Too Faced Primed & Poreless helps keep my face from shining like a beacon.

8. I always have a Tide pen just in case I spill anything on myself from doing arts & crafts with the students or from food because I can be a bit clumsy at times.

9. Purell Hand Sanitizer is another necessity when you work with kids and commute on the subway in NYC.

So those are all my back to school essentials. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!

Fragrance Favorites

Fragrance Favorites

This summer I’ve really enjoyed using various perfumes to finish off a look. I feel that different scents can lend a certain mood or attitude to an outfit. These are a few of my recent favorites. I’m crap at describing scents so I took the liberty of just looking at the fragrance notes on their respective websites.

1. See by Chloe – This has notes of jasmine, ylang ylang, vanilla and musk. I like the freshness of this perfume and whenever I wear it I always get compliments. It’s a perfect everyday scent to wear with casual outfits such as shorts and a    t-shirt and even a bikini.

2. Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black -  I’m normally not a fan of such strong scents, but for whatever reason this one is quite addicting. It has notes of violet, sandalwood and musk. I wear this for nights out and it’s also perfect for the cooler weather that’s soon to be heading our way. I can definitely picture myself wearing this with a leather jacket and jean combo this coming Fall.

3. Fresh Sugar Lychee - This has grapefruit, Italian lemon, lime blossom, lychee, mango flower, freesia, sandalwood, tonka bean, and amber (phew! that was a lot!). When I first spritzed myself with this at Sephora it smelled like rubbing alcohol, however after a minute or two, it changed to such an amazing scent. It’s so good that I went back and bought the roller ball version so I could carry it around with me. I wear this with summer dresses and more girly outfits.

4. Joie Folle de Joie - This perfume has jasmine, rose, leather, and wood. It lingers all day so it’s the perfect scent to take you from day to night. I like pairing this with a blazer and jeans.

5. Elizabeth and James Nirvana White – This has notes of peony, muguet, and tender musk. Another great scent, but unlike the Nirvana Black, this is more appropriate for day time. I’ve paired this with pretty much every kind of outfit because it’s such a lovely perfume to wear.

That’s all for my fragrance favorites. Thanks for reading and have a lovely day!

Life Lately

Happy Monday everyone! Here are a few snaps from July/August of what I’ve been up to. It involved concerts, some beach time, a road trip to Albany and dyeing the ends of my hair purple then eventually cutting it shorter. All in all, this summer has been pretty great. Life Lately 8.25Life Lately 8.25 part II

Thanks for reading! Have a lovely day!

I seriously love this perfume. I could spray myself all day with it.

An awesome book, I can’t wait to see the movie.
